Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene promotion

Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene

What we do

To promote WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) and basic healthcare services in schools, we work closely with the school administration and ROTO WASH – Health Club of the school to improve student and teacher health, attendance, and overall well-being. In order to achieve this

Handwashing Stations

Set up handwashing facilities with soap at key locations, like near bathrooms, cafeterias, and classrooms, to encourage regular hand hygiene.

Water Access Projects

Install water tanks, wells, or boreholes to ensure that schools have a reliable source of clean water. In areas with limited access, we set up rainwater harvesting systems.

Sanitary Toilet Facilities

Improve school sanitation by providing clean, separate toilets for boys and girls, ensuring dignity and privacy, especially for adolescent girls

Support adolescent girls by providing reusable sanitary products and creating safe, private changing areas to ensure they don’t miss school due to lack of supplies.

Regular Supply of Cleaning Materials

Provide schools with basic cleaning supplies and disinfectants to keep classrooms, toilets, and communal areas clean and safe

PROMOTE HYGIENE EDUCATION AND GOOD PRACTICES

Collaborate with local healthcare workers to regularly visit schools, offering guidance on
maintaining health and hygiene. Organize WASH awareness events that involve parents, students, and community
members in school and neighborhood clean-ups, strengthening community ties, Host sessions for parents and community members on health, hygiene, and sanitation
practices, so healthy behaviors are reinforced both at home and in school.
